Explore historical market data
Compare recorded item prices and counts without mistaking older observations or missing data for current prices.
Open Research, then Market data, to explore recorded observations for a CS2 item. You need Analytics access. This chart is separate from your purchase and sale history; viewing it does not place an order or change a contract.
Choose observations
- Search Item and select the complete Steam item name, including its wear when applicable.
- Open Date range and choose a preset or custom range. A recent range can be empty while a longer range contains older observations.
- On a phone, open Sources and display. Use Source and Metric category to narrow the available choices, then Compare observations to select up to eight source and metric pairs.
- Start with Recorded values under Transformation. Check which series returned points; a listed source or metric does not guarantee observations for this item and range.
An empty successful chart means no observations were returned for the selected pairs and range. It does not mean the item's price is zero. One series can have observations while another has none. Observations unavailable indicates a failed read, not an empty result.
Read dates and units
Dates use your browser's local time. Check Latest sample and the time of individual points before treating a chart as recent. Older history remains older even when you opened the page moments ago; it does not establish a fresh feed or an executable price.
Read each chart's unit. Monetary observations are shown in USD using the exchange rate at each observation; count series remain counts. Unit not declared is not permission to assume USD. Missing values or labels are not recorded zeroes, and an actual zero does not fill a gap in another series.
Adjust the display
Use Transformation for a moving average, rolling minimum or maximum, or change since the previous observation. Observation window counts observations, not days; irregular recording intervals can cover different lengths of time.
Normalize to index (base 100) sets each series' first nonzero value after the selected transformation to 100. It compares relative movement, not monetary amounts. With no nonzero anchor, normalization is unavailable. These display choices do not change the recorded observations.
Keep the comparison in context
Temporary read failures recover automatically while keeping your choices. If previous-range observations remain visible during an update, wait for the new range before interpreting them.
The page URL identifies the item only. Share the chosen range, sources and display settings separately; the link does not reproduce the full comparison.
Use this history when reviewing contract reference prices, while checking the contract's own observation-age limit. Historical movement does not guarantee a fill, profit or successful execution.
