Connect Steam accounts
Add your Steam accounts, check connection state and recover from an incomplete import.
Use Add Steam accounts during workspace setup, or open the Steam account directory in the intended workspace. You need permission to manage accounts to add or import them. For members, the Steam policy provides this access; assigning a proxy pool also needs Proxies access. See workspace permissions.
Prepare your Steam credentials
Have the account's username, password and saved authenticator secrets ready before opening the form:
- Shared secret is the saved Base64 value often named
shared_secretin authenticator data you already control. It generates Steam Guard codes; it is not the current code shown in an authenticator, a recovery code or your password. Keep the full saved value, including any trailing=characters. - Identity secret is the separate saved Base64 value often named
identity_secret. It is optional when adding an account, but required for mobile trade confirmations. It does not replace the shared secret.
For Import accounts, map these same saved values to the Shared secret and Identity secret columns. The add and import forms accept credential values; they do not extract secrets from the Steam mobile app or convert a displayed code into a secret. If you do not already have the saved secrets, pause enrollment until you can supply them. Keep them private, as you would a password.
Add one account
- Choose Add Steam account in setup, or Add account in the Steam account directory.
- Enter the Steam Username, Password and Shared secret for an account you control.
- Supply the Identity secret if the account needs mobile trade confirmations. This is separate from the shared secret used for Steam Guard codes.
- Submit the account form and wait for the enrollment result.
- When the result names the enrolled account, choose View account connection, or find that exact username in the directory.
Confirmed enrollment means the account was recorded. Its ordinary Steam session is established separately; an enrollment success message is not proof of a connected session or current inventory.
If enrollment reports an unknown outcome, use Check named account. A matching account lets you open its connection view, but does not verify that the submitted credentials were saved or that Steam connected. A missing or unavailable result does not prove the earlier enrollment failed. Check the exact username before submitting another account.
Import several accounts
- Choose Import accounts and select your account file.
- Check the detected columns and map Username, Password, Shared secret and, when present, Identity secret.
- Review the row count, missing required fields and duplicate usernames. The preview does not show passwords or secrets.
- Submit the import and inspect each reported outcome. The summary separates enrolled, failed and unconfirmed rows.
- For a confirmed Enrolled row, choose View connection to open that exact account when your role can view Steam accounts. Check the account directory before resubmitting any usernames.
Only confirmed rows count as enrolled. A failed row can report Already exists or Invalid account data; an unconfirmed row reports Outcome unknown. Already exists does not establish that the account belongs to the current workspace, so it does not provide a connection link. Zero enrolled means no submitted row has confirmed enrollment in that result; it does not prove the workspace is empty or that an unconfirmed row failed.
If the outcome is unknown, some accounts may already have been enrolled. Check those exact usernames before trying them again; do not repeat the whole import to recover an uncertain result.
If account data is still updating
The enrollment result can arrive before the account directory and related records finish updating. Updating account data... does not change the reported enrollment outcome. If those reads fail temporarily, account data updates automatically when the connection recovers; this does not resubmit the account or import. Keep confirmed, failed and unconfirmed rows distinct while you recover the displayed data.
Assign routing and check the connection
Select the relevant accounts and choose Assign proxy pool, or open that action from one account's connection view. See proxy setup for importing endpoints and interpreting the acknowledged count.
In the directory, review connection state and the account's reported errors. The account detail provides additional state and recorded collection times. A recorded inventory can remain visible while its account is disconnected, so check freshness before relying on it.
Where your access permits it, the connection view also shows the saved proxy binding and links to its pool and endpoint evidence. Use it to compare configured routing with the reported connection. A saved pool or session identifier alone does not establish which route an existing Steam connection is using.
If an account remains disconnected, check its credentials, Steam Guard setup and proxy assignment. Follow the reported error instead of repeatedly importing the same account. Adding an account does not remove a Steam restriction or trade hold.
Handle credentials carefully
Authorized members choose Review saved credentials in the account's credential controls. Returned fields stay masked until you choose that field's Reveal control; Copy copies the selected saved field. A field labelled Not saved has no returned saved value. Close the view when finished; reopening requires another explicit review. Keep revealed or copied credentials private. Credentials do not belong in screenshots, support messages or shared import files.
The Account API key in account credentials is a Steam credential. In the Steam account directory, More account options then Workspace API key opens the separate workspace Steam Web API key settings when your role permits it. Neither is the Goldmine API key used to connect your own tools to Goldmine. Check which key a control asks for before supplying a value; a configured key alone does not prove account connection or collection freshness.
Next, inspect your inventory.
